The Method Seven Patriot SKY9 is engineered for pilots flying in intense sunlight, combining dark blue mineral glass lenses with the wraparound coverage of a flexible titanium frame. Developed with direct input from the Patriots Jet Team, a civilian formation aerobatic team, the Patriot was designed for high G maneuvers, expansive peripheral vision, and compatibility with aviation headsets, flight helmets, and oxygen masks. Nonpolarized SKY9 blue mineral glass lenses provide just 9% visible light transmission (VLT), creating an exceptionally dark tint for bright skies, exposed canopies, and demanding high glare conditions. Developed by M7 Labs in Santa Cruz, California, SKY technology uses proprietary notch filtering to enhance contrast and help pilots distinguish clouds, terrain, and flight instruments while maintaining useful color balance. Blue mineral glass provides excellent optical clarity, scratch resistance, full UV protection, and infrared filtering to reduce unwanted heat. A blue flash mirror finish and anti reflective coating help control harsh sunlight and distracting reflections. Unlike polarized sunglasses, SKY9 lenses help pilots read glass cockpit displays, GPS units, and tablets without polarization interference or distracting patterns through aircraft windows. The darker tint is intended for particularly bright daylight rather than low light flying conditions. The Patriot's 8 base decentered lens curve delivers generous wraparound coverage, helping reduce light entering from the sides while preserving peripheral awareness. Its hand-tooled black titanium construction combines strength and flexibility, while thin, low profile temples fit beneath aviation headsets and flight helmets. This design helps maintain headset ear seals and noise attenuation while reducing pinching, pressure, and audio leakage during extended flights. The frame also accommodates aviation oxygen masks. The serial numbered frame weighs 31.3 grams and features drop ball tested lenses. Frame measurements: 64-17-135 mm.
