The Method Seven Ascent SKY9 combines classic aviator styling with precision German mineral glass optics developed for the demands of aviation. Designed for pilots flying in intense sunlight, its nonpolarized SKY9 lenses offer 9% visible light transmission (VLT), a darker tint suited to exceptionally bright daylight conditions. Developed by M7 Labs in Santa Cruz, California, SKY lens technology uses advanced notch filtering to enhance contrast, balance colors, and improve the visibility of details in clouds, terrain, and flight instruments. Unlike FLT polymer lenses, SKY9 lenses are crafted from German mineral glass for exceptional optical clarity and scratch resistance. The lenses feature a blue viewing tint and specialized coatings that help manage bright sunlight and distracting reflections. SKY9 lenses provide full UV and infrared protection without polarization, allowing pilots to read electronic flight instruments, GPS units, and iPads without the display interference or distracting aircraft window patterns associated with polarized sunglasses. With just 9% VLT, SKY9 is particularly well suited to high altitude flying, desert environments, and other exceptionally bright conditions where greater light reduction is desirable. The Ascent's aerospace grade titanium frame combines strength, flexibility, corrosion resistance, and durability in a modern aviator design. Ultra thin bayonet temples taper to less than 1.00 mm, fitting comfortably beneath aviation headsets and properly fitted flight helmets. Their low profile helps preserve headset ear seals and noise attenuation while minimizing sound leakage, pinching, and pressure points on long flights. The flexible frame accommodates oxygen equipment, and adjustable rubberized nose pads provide a secure fit.
