Engines have a life of their own and sometimes they're swapped or exchanged. Each engine has it's own record which usually stays with the engine if the engine is exchanged. The Engine Log can be used for either piston engines or turbine engines. The Engine Logbook has 54 pages divided into two sections. A: Engine Service and Maintenance, and B: Engine AD's and Service Bulletins.
